Your Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia,
Dearly Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With sentiments of profound gratitude to Almighty God and with spiritual joy, we gather today in this historic Cathedral of Saint George the Great Martyr and Trophy-Bearer to celebrate the sacred memory of the Holy, Glorious, and All-Praised Apostle Bartholomew, one of the Twelve Apostles of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apostle Bartholomew occupies a distinguished place among those first witnesses who were called by Christ to proclaim the Good News of salvation to the world. Through his unwavering faith, his apostolic zeal, and his willingness to endure suffering for the sake of the Gospel, he became a luminous example of discipleship and fidelity to the Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the tradition of the Church, the Apostle Bartholomew is identified with Nathanael, of whom Christ declared: \u201cBehold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile.\u201d These words reveal the virtues that adorned the Apostle\u2019s life\u2014purity of heart, sincerity of spirit, and complete dedication to the will of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His example continues to inspire the faithful in every generation, reminding us that authentic Christian witness begins with integrity, humility, and a wholehearted commitment to Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this blessed occasion, however, we honor not only the Holy Apostle whose memory we celebrate, but also two distinguished servants of the Church who bear his venerable name and whose ministries continue to enrich the life of Orthodoxy throughout the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First and foremost, we direct our filial devotion, profound respect, and heartfelt congratulations to His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople\u2013New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch, the Spiritual Leader of the Orthodox Christian world and First among the Primates of the Holy Orthodox Churches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For more than three decades of inspired Patriarchal ministry, His All-Holiness has exercised a remarkable and visionary leadership that has earned Him universal esteem far beyond the boundaries of Orthodoxy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guided by wisdom, discernment, theological depth, and pastoral sensitivity, He has labored tirelessly for the unity of the Orthodox Church, for the advancement of inter-Christian and interreligious dialogue, and for the cultivation of peace, reconciliation, and mutual understanding among peoples and nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His All-Holiness has consistently borne witness to the Gospel values of justice, freedom, human dignity, and solidarity, offering a prophetic voice in a world often wounded by violence, division, intolerance, and social inequality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among His many contributions, particular recognition must be given to His pioneering advocacy for the protection of the natural environment. Long before ecological concerns became a central topic of international discourse, the Ecumenical Patriarch articulated a profound theological vision regarding humanity’s sacred responsibility toward creation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Through international symposia, scholarly initiatives, pastoral encyclicals, and global partnerships, He has demonstrated that care for the environment is not merely a scientific or political issue, but fundamentally a spiritual and moral imperative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this reason, He has been widely acclaimed throughout the world as the \u201cGreen Patriarch,\u201d a title that reflects His enduring commitment to safeguarding God’s creation for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legacy of His All-Holiness extends beyond ecclesiastical leadership. His contributions to theology, education, culture, human rights, and international cooperation have established Him as one of the most influential spiritual leaders of our era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, with filial affection and profound gratitude, we offer our fervent prayers that the Lord God may continue to grant Him health, strength, wisdom, and many blessed years, so that He may continue His sacred ministry for the benefit of the Church and the entire human family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, we extend our warmest and most sincere congratulations to His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia, the esteemed Auxiliary Bishop of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Grace has distinguished himself through his humility, pastoral dedication, tireless service, and unwavering commitment to the mission of the Church. Through his faithful ministry, he contributes substantially to the pastoral, liturgical, educational, and philanthropic work of our Holy Metropolis, offering guidance, encouragement, and spiritual support to clergy and laity alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His episcopal presence among us constitutes a source of blessing and strength, reflecting the authentic spirit of apostolic ministry and ecclesiastical service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We pray that the Holy Apostle Bartholomew may continue to intercede on his behalf, granting him abundant health, spiritual vigor, divine illumination, and every heavenly blessing as he continues his fruitful ministry in the vineyard of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today’s celebration reminds us that the Church remains firmly rooted in the apostolic foundation laid by the holy Apostles and continues her saving mission through the faithful witness of her shepherds and people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Holy Apostle Bartholomew calls us to live our faith with authenticity, courage, and fidelity. At the same time, those who bear his honored name and continue to serve the Church in our own generation remind us that the apostolic witness remains alive and active in the contemporary world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
