Subject: “The Dynamics of Prayer in the Modern Age”
The Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia announces a lecture entitled “The Dynamics of Prayer in the Modern Age,” to be delivered by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Esphigmenou on Mount Athos, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Fr. Bartholomew.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, at the Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Stockholm (Birger Jarlsgatan 92, 114 20 Stockholm).
The program is as follows:
• 17:00: Vespers service at the Cathedral
• 18:00: Lecture by the Abbot
• 19:00: Reception in the Cathedral’s Fellowship Hall
The lecture highlights the timeless value of the Gospel message and emphasizes the importance of prayer as an essential element in the life of modern individuals. In a time of rapid technological development and increasing demands, spiritual life is presented not as a luxury, but as a fundamental necessity that profoundly influences daily life, human relationships, and inner balance.
Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship between the inner and outer dimensions of human existence, as well as on prayer as a living relationship with God that brings peace, clarity of mind, and strength to face life’s challenges.
The event is open to all who seek meaningful spiritual grounding within the realities of contemporary life.
