The Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia is pleased to announce to the faithful of the Mother Church in Scandinavia that the ordination of its new volunteer clergyman, the Reverend Protopresbyter Dr. Christian (Nils Krister) Tano, who is both a physician and a theologian, took place on Lazarus Saturday.
He was ordained to the first degree of the priesthood at the Saint George Cathedral of Stockholm by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia.
On the following day, Palm Sunday, he was elevated to the priesthood by His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia and was granted the office of Protopresbyter.
On Holy Saturday morning, he received the office of spiritual fatherhood.
With the blessing and encouragement of our Shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia will travel to the city of Luleå, Sweden, where on Saturday, April 25, 2026, he will officiate at 10:00 a.m. at the Hertsökyrkan (address: Hertsötorget 16–18, 974 52 Luleå).
There, he will also perform the service of the Thyranoixia of the newly established parish, dedicated to the recently canonized Saint Tychon the Athonite, and will at the same time present its new parish priest.
