On Bright Saturday, April 18, 2026, His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia, together with His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia, welcomed in Stockholm the visiting Member of Parliament for the Cyclades and Chairman of the Hellenic Parliament’s Special Committee on Diaspora Affairs, the Honorable Mr. Filippos Fortomas, who was accompanied by the Head of the Consular Office of Greece in Sweden, the Honorable Mr. Ioannis Ferentinos.
Initially, the Metropolitan gave the distinguished visitor a tour of the Cathedral, informing him about its history and restoration works. He then received him at the Museum of Hellenic Christian Heritage, where he briefed him on the work of the Holy Metropolis, the countries under its jurisdiction, and its parishes.
At the conclusion of the meeting, he presented him with his latest study on his predecessor, the first Metropolitan of Sweden, the late Polyefktos, as well as a recent publication by the Apostoliki Diakonia of the Church of Greece titled “A Brief Introduction to the Sacraments of the Church.”
Subsequently, Mr. Fortomas thanked His Eminence for his warm reception and hospitality, expressing his admiration for the multifaceted work of the local Church during the twelve years of his pastoral ministry.
He also stated his intention to support, on behalf of the Greek State, issues concerning the Greek Diaspora and the Church abroad.
