Dearly Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Saint Demetrios is honored not only as the protector of Thessaloniki, but also as a protector, guide, and inspiring example for young people. He was himself young, yet his youth was filled with dedication, spiritual strength, vision, and unwavering faith in Christ.
He did not use his position or talents for personal advancement. Instead, he placed them at the service of God and his fellow human beings, teaching the Christian faith and strengthening the young people of his time.
Saint Demetrios possessed the vision to recognize what young people can become when they place their lives in the hands of Christ. His relationship with Saint Nestor shows him as a spiritual father who encouraged the young, trusted them, and prepared them to confront fear with faith.
His life reminds every young person that true strength is not found in power or popularity, but in faith, integrity, and the willingness to serve others.
May Saint Demetrios inspire our young people to dream with hope, to live with purpose, and to become courageous witnesses of Christ in today’s world.
On this joyful occasion, the feastday of our parish, I congratulate the Reverend Protopresbyter Father Georgios Arvanitidis, the Parish Council, and all the volunteers of our Parish of Saints Demetrios and Nestor in Örebro.
Their devoted and voluntary ministry, their spirit of sacrifice, and their faithful service to the Church constitute an example worthy of imitation for all our parishes throughout Scandinavia.
May Saints Demetrios and Nestor strengthen and protect you all and richly bless the continuing mission of this beloved parish.
