STOCKHOLM — His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia attended a commemorative concert held at St. Erik’s Roman Catholic Cathedral in Stockholm on Monday, June 8, 2026, marking the first anniversary of the election of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
The Metropolitan participated in the event at the invitation of the Apostolic Nunciature and was accompanied by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia.
The concert brought together representatives of governmental and religious institutions, members of the diplomatic corps, and numerous invited guests. The program, performed by the Cathedral’s youth choir, focused on themes of peace, reconciliation, and mutual understanding among peoples and faith communities.
Before the concert, Metropolitan Cleopas met with the Apostolic Nuncio, His Eminence Archbishop Julio Murat of Orange, and conveyed the heartfelt congratulations and blessings of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of the anniversary of his election.
The Metropolitan’s presence at the event highlighted the spirit of mutual respect and constructive collaboration that characterizes relations between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Roman Catholic Church, as well as their shared commitment to advancing peace, justice, and human dignity in today’s world.
