On the occasion of professional engagements before the courts in Stockholm, on Friday, September 11, 2026, the distinguished Athens-based criminal defense attorney, the Honorable Athanasios Kechagioglou, Archon Dikaiophylax of the Ecumenical Throne and Archon Grand Logothete of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by his associate, attorney Michalis Anastasopoulos, visited the Headquarters of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia in Stockholm.

The distinguished guests were given a tour of the facilities of the historic St. George Cathedral of Stockholm and were briefed on the history of the Cathedral, as well as on the pastoral, missionary, and cultural work of the Holy Metropolis throughout Scandinavia.

They subsequently met at the Museum of Hellenic-Christian Heritage with His Eminence Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia and His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Elaia, with whom they held a cordial and constructive conversation.

Mr. Kechagioglou has a long and distinguished record in the field of law and in criminal defense practice, both in Greece and abroad. His many years of invaluable service to the Orthodox Church have been recognized by two of the ancient Patriarchates. In 2022, he was invested as Archon Dikaiophylax of the Ecumenical Throne, and in 2026, he was elevated to Archon Grand Logothete of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.

He also actively participates in ecclesiastical and academic initiatives, placing his legal expertise and experience at the service of dialogue on contemporary social, ethical, and institutional issues, while consistently supporting the missionary and humanitarian work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria across the African continent.

His Eminence expressed his joy at Mr. Kechagioglou’s visit, congratulated him on his many years of service to the Church, society, and the legal profession, and wished him health, strength, and every success in continuing his wide-ranging work.

At the conclusion of the visit, His Eminence hosted a luncheon in honor of the distinguished guest and his entourage, in a warm and cordial atmosphere.
